Starts in Rincon Grande also known as the third is easy class III. perhaps a dozen. mostly tight compression drops. One class V following travertine springs and another small rapid.

Small canyon just below put-in. Gallianas Falls 20 k. downstream. A couple more small IIIs. then five miles of current to Tamul Canyon. Very tough and dangerous rapid is first: triple drop, or el portal. another nine class III, IV and V follow. Great day of whitewater. be cautious. no way out of canyon until tamul. good trail out at tamul. and good road leading to el Sauz. if falls are pounding far wall take-out here. Usually if Gallinas is above 280 at the bridge gauge.
